My name is Lisa Buhr and I’m asking for your vote on November 6 to be your next state representative.

I am the mom of three children and an 18-year veteran state worker living in Holts Summit – and I hope to be the 49th District’s next state representative. For the better part of my career, I’ve worked in the Capitol and I know first-hand how public policy works for – and against – my neighbors. This spring, I came off of the bench and into the game. This time, Callaway County will win.

Why am I running? After 18 years working for  the state of Missouri and being a longtime resident of the district, it’s time for someone to go to the state Capitol and fight for us. It is unacceptable for Missouri to maintain its status as having the lowest paid state workers in the country – many of them our neighbors in the 49th. For too long have we sent fly-by-night politicians to the Capitol, only for them to ignore the real problems and push political legislation.

I grew up in the 49th district and I’m proud to have made it my home. My parents and family live here too – and we all plan to stay.

If you agree, please vote for me on November 6 as your next state representative.

The 49th District has an overwhelming amount of neighbors who work for the state of Missouri.  No longer will there be no voice for them. Between low pay and increasing insurance premiums, it’s time for Jefferson City to stop messing with the people working for Missouri.

Right to work? Prevailing wage? Paycheck protection? Absolutely not. It is not the role of government to interfere with our jobs.

Two major highways run through Callaway County. Countless state roads, overpasses, and bridges lie in our district. We travel these roads every day. It is time we ensure equal funding in rural and metropolitan parts of Missouri by holding the Missouri Department of Transportation accountable for how they use their resources.

The 49th District is proud to be home to wonderful students in kindergarten through college and businesses from roadside diners to nuclear plants. Politicians in Jefferson City cannot continue to hold back our schools, businesses, and homes by preventing Callaway County and beyond from moving forward with faster internet and better technology infrastructure. The more tools we have in our toolbox, the faster we can build the future.
